MOONLIGHT MILE
THE NEW RECORD - 2025
Jazzhole’s current release was the culmination of a road trip that started in Woodstock, making stops in NYC and Nashville, and ended up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Peter Levin (Greg Allman, Blind Boys of Alabama) joined the group in tracking at Fame Studios, while trumpet legend Randy Brecker and tabla master Prabhu Edouard added overdubs from remote locations.
The jazz / soul / hip hop excursion features the singles Love...Life... (Lord KCB), Moonlight Mile (Marlon Saunders) and Damn I Miss NY (Michelle Lewis, Rosa Russ and Marlon Saunders).
BLUE 72
FULL ALBUM - 2021
Jazzhole's seventh recording, Blue 72, is a soul jazz bossa concept album in which the three principals re-imagine familiar pop and R&B tunes from the year 1972. Along with Inniss and Robohm, David Binney, Keith Slattery, Gary Pozner and Daniel Sadownick played on this outing. Lindsey Webster joined Michelle Lewis and Rosa Russ, singing two songs in Portuguese. Jazz Weekly wrote: “…a soulful "If Loving You Is Wrong" that hits all the right chords to a take of Elton John’s "Rocket Man" that is fantastically tackled in Portuguese. A backwoods lilt to "You’re So Vain" might give Carly Simon a raised eyebrow, while a Brazilian fell on "Alone Again (Naturally)" finally puts some pop into the bubblegum hit.”
poets walk
FULL ALBUM - 2007
Poet's Walk, the sixth studio recording, finds Jazzhole exploring the new hybridity of modern urban soul: a sound that incorporates downtempo grooves and acoustic R&B, with hints of bossa nova. Poet's Walk benefits from performances by several guests: keyboardist David Sancious (Stanley Clarke, Bruce Springsteen, Sting), saxophonist David Binney, vocalist Yemen-native Michal Cohen (Meredith Monk, Uri Caine), and percussion star Daniel Sadownick (Meshell Ndegeocello, Maxwell, Screaming Headless Torsos). Critical acclaim included: Echoes: "...an absolutely blinding piece of work...It's hypnotic, utterly absorbing, soulful mood music…” and FM Magazine: "Jazzhole's retro vibe is a blend of bohemian acid jazz and cool soul grooves - the perfect accompaniment for long summer nights."
CIRCLE OF THE SUN
FULL ALBUM - 2003
In 2003, Jazzhole moved on to a more acoustic sound on Circle of the Sun, marking the first appearances of current Jazzhole band members Mark Robohm and David Inniss. This album also featured long-time collaborator Gary Pozner (Tom Tom Club) and Cameroon born song stylist Kaissa. Billboard wrote: "… disregards contemporary R&B conventions in favor of musical landscapes that, while certainly earthy, are also otherworldly. …it is rather sublime. A feast for the ears.", while Straight No Chaser added: "From the opening track, you sense the majesty and sophistication at work, and as the album progresses, weaving in African vocal tracks which sit comfortably alongside expansive instrumental segues, you know something special is afoot. Albums like this are few and far between…"
Blackburst
FULL ALBUM - 2000
After an album of primarily remixes, Jazzhole left Blue Moon / Atlantic and recorded their fourth album. Released in 2000, Blackburst marked a change in direction for Jazzhole. Blackburst saw the group mixing elements of electronica and chillout with their soul roots, and moving away from acid jazz and hip-hop. These changes were well-received by fans and press alike. Billboard reported: "Blackburst is filled with luscious grooves and intense rhythms. Saunders and Russ lay down sensuous riffs, perfect for late nights with that special someone." BRE added: "A yummy collection of jazz-influenced tunes that inspire lust, laughter and lounging."
and the feeling goes round

DJ Times added: "Some of the most poetic lyrics and turning out some of the fiercest grooves in the burgeoning acid jazz scene."
